Citizens’ Initiative: A Vibrant City Centre for Ahrensburg 2022

In this post, we would like to introduce the Ahrensburg citizens’ petition for a vibrant town centre. This petition is not an initiative of the Musicalschule Ahrensburg or Musical Creations Entertainment GmbH

, but our Managing Director

, Hauke Wendt

, is one of the initiators, which is why we are happy to share the link to this initiative:

A vibrant Ahrensburg town centre can only exist if it is, and remains, accessible to visitors. In recent years, politicians and the local authorities have ensured that the number of available car parking spaces has been steadily reduced. This trend threatens the survival of the town centre’s service providers, restaurateurs and retailers, and thus the town’s exceptionally diverse range of amenities. Over two-thirds of our customers come from neighbouring communities and – for the most part – use their own cars. A further reduction in the number of parking spaces will result in these customers switching to other shopping destinations. As a result, the range of services available in the town centre will be significantly reduced – for all residents of Ahrensburg. For many years, we have sought dialogue with politicians and the local authority. To no avail. For this reason, we have decided – with the support of the Ahrensburg City Forum – to launch a citizens’ initiative. We do not believe that a further reduction in parking spaces is in the interests of the people of Ahrensburg. We need your help and support to save Ahrensburg’s town centre from the fate of other medium-sized towns. We want a vibrant town centre that is, and will remain, the heart of our town.
