Thrillerween 2025 at Hamburg Central Station with the MSA

Spectacular Michael Jackson flash mob in the heart of Hamburg

On 31 October 2025, the concourse of Hamburg Central Station was transformed into a sort of giant stage. Over 150 dancers from the Musicalschule Ahrensburg (MSA) performed alongside the MALIBU MJ & Family Fan Club to Michael Jackson’s legendary song ‘Thriller’ – creating an unforgettable Halloween spectacle right in the middle of the station – one of Hamburg’s busiest public spaces.

From auditions to a spooky performance

The event was part of a major Halloween project that had begun weeks earlier with an open casting call. MSA headteacher Jacqui Dunnley-Wendt took on the role of artistic director, whilst the MALIBU MJ & Family Fan Club supported the project with expertise, manpower and enthusiasm.

As Michael Jackson, Koffi Missah wowed the audience at this very special event with his stage presence and his characteristic passion.

The project was supported by Michael Crnjavic and his team from Pro Academy and the Make-up Artists’ School, who were responsible for the impressive zombie make-up. The impressive lighting and sound design was provided by Sound & Light Service Ahrensburg.

When Hamburg Central Station becomes a stage

At 12 noon sharp, the unmistakable beat of “Thriller” rang out – and the concourse came to life. Passengers stopped in their tracks, smartphones were held aloft, and suddenly dozens of zombies were dancing amongst wheeled suitcases and takeaway coffee cups. The choreography, make-up and atmosphere created a unique blend of horror, spectacle and excitement.

After the performance, the participants made their way to the Landungsbrücken and took the ferry across to the Stage Theatre on the Elbe – where “MJ – The Michael Jackson Musical” is currently being performed. This provided a powerful symbolic conclusion to a day full of dance, passion and community spirit.

Excellent media coverage

The event attracted widespread attention across Germany. Numerous media outlets were enthusiastic about the event and reported on it accordingly. Here is a brief selection – these media outlets, amongst others, covered the event:

The Musicalschule Ahrensburg would like to thank all the dancers, their supporters and families, and of course the MSA team – led by the one and only Jacqui Dunnley-Wendt, the MALIBU MJ & Family Fan Club, Stage Entertainment, Michael Crnjavic and his team from Pro Academy and the Make-up Artists’ School, as well as Sound & Light Service Ahrensburg for technical support, sound and lighting: without you, this extraordinary project would not have been possible!
