Masterclass with Enrico De Pieri on 5 September 2020

We are absolutely delighted that Enrico De Pieri will be giving a masterclass at the Musicalschule Ahrensburg on Saturday 5 September 2020!

Enrico is well known as a musical theatre actor: for example, he was the original cast member playing the genie ‘Dschinni’ in Disney’s ‘Aladdin’ at the Theater Neue Flora in Hamburg, Porthos in ‘The Three Musketeers – The Musical’, “Peter Schlönzke” in the world premiere of Hape Kerkeling’s musical “Kein Pardon”, and “Uncle Fester” in the first German-language production of “The Addams Family”.

Enrico De Pieri is also a passionate singing teacher: he was an instructor at the Joop van den Ende Academy in Hamburg, held a teaching post at Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences, and worked as a vocal coach at major musical theatres for productions such as “Dance of the Vampires”, “Elisabeth”, ‘Ich will Spaß’ and ‘Wicked’.

Jon Mortimer will accompany the masterclass with Enrico De Pieri on the piano. Enrico and Jon are alumni of the 24-Stunden Musicals.

What is a masterclass?

The term ‘masterclass’ indicates that the instructor leading it is recognised as an expert in the field covered by this format.

The main difference from ‘normal’ lessons lies in the structure. In a masterclass, all students (both active and passive) listen and watch as the instructor (‘master’) teaches one student at a time. Students usually begin by performing a prepared piece of music, after which the instructor works with the student on that piece. Students are often then asked to perform the piece again, taking the instructor’s feedback into account.

The masterclass with Enrico De Pieri will take place on Saturday, 5 September 2020 at the Musicalschule Ahrensburg, divided into two groups.

The first group, the ‘Jedermann’ group, is open to all interested singers who would like to work with Enrico on a song of their choice, particularly amateurs and young people. The minimum age for this group is 12.

The second group, the “Um die Uni” group, is aimed at ambitious singers who are considering sitting an entrance exam at a music or theatre college, are already students at such a college, or have already completed a relevant degree.

For both groups, in addition to active participation, there is also the option to attend as a passive participant. Passive participants can take part in the group warm-up with Enrico and the active participants, but will simply observe whilst Enrico works with the students.

Please note the following regarding the masterclass with Enrico De Pieri:

– To make a binding booking, we require your full name, address and email address.

– Bookings can be made online via this website of the Musicalschule Ahrensburg. Alternatively, bookings can also be made in person at the Musicalschule Ahrensburg.

– The minimum age for participation is 12 years (younger participants only by arrangement); please refer to the description for the “Um die Uni” group.

– The booking can only be confirmed once payment has been received by the Ahrensburg Musical School; the fee is generally non-refundable. In the event of illness or inability to attend, please contact the Ahrensburg Musical School; we will then be happy to try to invite an alternative participant. The fee paid can only be refunded if a replacement participant is found.

– By booking, the participant agrees that any photographic, audio and/or video recordings in which they may be seen or heard may be made and published.

– Each active participant should prepare a suitable song of their choice and bring a legible copy of the sheet music for the pianist.

– Please bring indoor trainers or dance shoes.
