You don’t learn to dance by watching. You learn it by doing it — week after week, with a teacher who’s on stage themselves, and a group that shares the same love of movement.
The Musicalschule Ahrensburg offers dance lessons for all age groups: from a child’s very first dance steps at age 3 to demanding adult classes in tap, jazz dance and ballet. Every course has its own character — but they all share one thing: teaching from people who live dance professionally.
Which dance course is right for me?
Children’s dance — from age 3
Children dance naturally. Our children’s courses give that energy a framework — playful, age-appropriate, with no pressure to perform. Dance isn’t practised in isolation here, but combined with singing and small roles: the way musical theatre dance really works.
Musical Mini Movers (age 3–6): First movement experiences, free dancing to music, sense of rhythm, simple step sequences.
Musical Kids (age 6–10): More structured choreography, more complex movement sequences, performance preparation. A real performance at the end of the season.
Tap dance — from age 6, adults welcome too
Tap dance isn’t a niche discipline here. At the MSA it’s a genuine centrepiece — and one of the few offerings of its kind in the greater Ahrensburg area. Your feet become an instrument, your body becomes a drum kit. Once you start, you rarely stop.
Happy Feet (age 6–10): A playful introduction for children. Basic steps, sense of rhythm, first combinations.
Fab Feet (age 15+, beginners): Classic tap steps from the ground up — shuffle, ball change, time step. No prior experience needed.
Elite Feet (age 15+, advanced): Complex combinations, higher tempo, demanding choreography.
Musical Dance Adults — jazz dance for adults from age 17
Jazz dance and musical theatre choreography for adults — with repertoire ranging from Mamma Mia to Saturday Night Fever. If you want to move, learn choreography and dance in a regular group, this is the course for you.
Ballet for Adults — from age 14
Classical ballet as the foundation of every dance style. No pointe work, no pressure to perform — but real technique. If you want to improve your posture, build core strength, or develop a solid technical foundation for dance, this is the right course for you.

Frequently asked questions about dance lessons at the MSA
What age groups offer dance lessons?
From age 3 to 99. Children’s dance starts at age 3. Tap dance is available from age 6 for children and from age 15 for teenagers and adults. Jazz dance and ballet are for adults from age 14 and 17 respectively.
Do I need previous experience?
No. All our dance courses have beginner options. Placement is based on age and experience level.
When are the trial lessons?
Twice a year: late January and in summer (August). Book via our trial lessons page.
