Tap dancing has a way of getting under your skin. Not straight away – but after a few weeks you’ll notice it: you hear music differently. You hear the rhythm before you count it. And suddenly your feet feel as though they’re an instrument.
Tap dancing is a rare find in the greater Ahrensburg area. At the Ahrensburg Musical School, we’ve been teaching it for years as a regular weekly course – for children aged 6 and over, for teenagers and for adults of all ages and experience levels. With instructors who not only teach tap dancing but are professional dancers themselves.

An overview of our tap dance courses
Happy Feet – Tap dancing for children (aged 6–10)
A fun introduction for primary school children. Here, children learn how the sounds of their feet can become music – with cool step combinations, a great sense of rhythm and lots of fun. No previous experience required. Tap shoes can be hired for the taster session.
Fab Feet – Tap dancing for beginners aged 15 and over
The beginners’ course for teenagers and adults. We build everything from the ground up: shuffle, ball change, time step, flap, cramp roll. Every step is understood, not just copied. Choreography is introduced right from the start – because tap dancing should be fun, not just about technique.
Elite Feet – Tap dancing for advanced learners aged 15 and over
Once you’ve mastered the basics, we go deeper here: more complex combinations, faster tempos, and more challenging choreographies. Tap dancing becomes an art form. This course is for anyone who knows they’re far from finished.
What you’ll learn in tap dance at the MSA

- Choreographic expressiveness: Combining steps into a dance, adding your own flair
- Body control: Precise footwork requires genuine coordination and body control
- Stage presence: Through regular performances in our productions and shows
Why tap dance at the MSA?
Tap dancing isn’t just a side activity – it’s an integral part of our productions and shows. What our students practise in class, they regularly see on real stages – and often perform on them themselves.
Our tap dance teachers are active musical theatre performers with engagements on cruise ships, in touring productions and on German stages. They don’t teach what they once learnt, but what they do today.
There’s no upper age limit for tap dancing. We have students in their sixties who joined the Fab Feet. Some of our adult students have been with us for over ten years.
Easily accessible from across the Stormarn region
Tap dancing is taught at only a few schools in the greater Ahrensburg area. That’s why many of our tap dance students come from all over the Stormarn region: Bargteheide (approx. 10 mins), Großhansdorf (approx. 10 mins), Trittau (approx. 15 mins), Ammersbek (approx. 10 mins) and Hamburg-Volksdorf / East Hamburg (approx. 20 mins).
