Coronavirus: A fresh start after the summer holidays
Since March, the decrees issued by the Schleswig-Holstein state government have had the musical school firmly in their grip: following the initial shock of the ordered closure of teaching activities on Friday 13 March 2020, the musical school team reacted swiftly and quickly converted ‘Studio 2’ into the ‘Corona TV Studio’.
Using the resources of Musical Creations Entertainment GmbH and with support from our long-standing local technical partner, Sound & Light Service, as well as the streaming expert Martin Höfling from Ahrensburg TV, over 200 lessons were made available online for the students of the Musicalschule Ahrensburg in the run-up to the summer holidays, and the majority of these were also held live as interactive classes. The last-minute communication of new guidelines by the state government has not exactly made things easy for the team at the Musicalschule Ahrensburg; in recent months, important changes were often only announced at the weekend before the Monday on which they came into force. This has also made medium-term planning practically impossible.
However, the fact that some potential changes were publicly announced by ministers and government departments weeks in advance has left the owners of the Musicalschule Ahrensburg baffled, as these statements were, on the one hand, unreliable and, on the other, led to uncertainty amongst the students and their families. It would certainly have been only fair to provide those affected with reliable information in advance.
After the summer holidays, however, the team at the Musicalschule Ahrensburg is aiming to return to face-to-face teaching, provided this can be done in accordance with the regulations. Whilst this remains a major uncertainty, a number of alternative plans have been drawn up, so there is hope that a solution can be found which meets both the state government’s requirements AND the interests of the Musicalschule Ahrensburg and its students.
