Acting workshop with Denise Orita

This intensive one-day acting workshop with Denise Orita is perfect for anyone looking for a challenge and interested in a future career in acting. It is an opportunity for participants to develop and refine their full range of acting skills. Denise will work closely with participants throughout the workshop and offer individual coaching where required. The workshop covers key elements of acting training such as voice, improvisation and movement, as well as text and scene work.
You will work with Denise Orita on a wide range of texts, from classical to modern, exploring ways to approach the pieces and develop character, motivation and a convincing performance.  Intensive text and scene work will equip you with a broad knowledge of plays and playwrights and help to boost your confidence in handling texts, developing characters and communicating with fellow actors and the audience. This will help you to develop the right audition piece, as well as the right mindset and focus.
Improvisation can be used both as a rehearsal tool and as a means of acting spontaneously and imaginatively. You will gain self-confidence, learn to trust others and acquire skills that you can apply during rehearsals, auditions and performances.
Voice You will discover how to develop a vocal technique that meets the demands of your text, and you will be given exercises to further develop your voice and its emotional range. You will also receive advice on vocal health and on maintaining your voice’s freedom and expressiveness.
Movement: In this session, technical work – aimed at releasing tension, allowing the breath to flow freely and promoting freedom of movement – will be combined with physical improvisation and games to explore the actors’ imagination and ability to act, and to develop an understanding of how to work as part of an ensemble. By the end of the session, participants will have developed some useful techniques for their own work and will know how to approach movement sessions.
Upon request, feedback will be provided at the end of the acting workshop, which will also include information on further training and development.

She has recognised the importance of actors using a variety of tools to deliver the best possible performance.
Her diverse talents enable her to teach improvisation techniques that give actors confidence on any stage. She provides students with a manageable method for working with dialogue, alleviating the fears and removing the mental blocks that students often suffer from, thereby opening up their minds and bodies. Through a series of rigorous techniques that Denise has developed over the years, her students are able to face their demons and free themselves to give the performance of their lives.
Denise is one of the advisory coaches for the Actor’s Workout in Munich, which develops contemporary training for professionals.
